It is said that Harlem is the birthplace of jazz and there is no greater testament to this fact than the tens of thousands of visitors who come each year seeking clubs and performers who can replicate the immortal sounds, tunes and rhythms of the likes of “the Duke” (Ellington, that is), Lena (as in “Horne”), Billie (as in “Holiday”), Ella (as in “Fitzgerald”), “the Monk” (Thelonious), Sarah Vaughn, Miles (as in “Davis”), and Charlie Parker and Arthur Prysock – just to name a few.
For the true jazz aficionados, Welcome to Harlem has devised a very special tour that will take you to jazz clubs where you can relive Harlem’s golden era just as the great artists intended and spend hours listening to their contemporaries while you enjoy a soulful meal of southern style cooking and barbeque.
And lest we forget the Apollo Theater where you can enjoy listening to rising Black talented and future stars of comedy, hip-hop, and rhythm and blues, or catch one of the regularly scheduled shows featuring internationally acclaimed artists who present their music and song rooted in American and Afro-centric jazz.
You’ll consider the occasion as one of your great nights out, so take the A train to 125th Street and get the party started.

A, B, C, or D, to 125th Street, exit near intersection of W 125th St and St Nicholas Ave., walk east one block on 125th street to 8th Avenue (Frederick Douglass Blvd.), turn left and walk to 126th & 127th Streets. You will see the sign for Welcome to Harlem. 2 or 3 trains to 125th Street, exit on the left side of the station and walk west two blocks to 8th Avenue (Frederick Douglass Blvd.), turn right and walk to 126th & 127th Streets. You will see the sign for Welcome to Harlem.
