Gospel & Brunch Tour in Harlem (Children)
Come uptown on any Sunday morning and hear and enjoy the toe-tapping, hand-clapping, foot-stomping rhythms of soulful Black gospel music and participate in a moving worship service that includes sermons and homilies given by Harlem’s most prominent, articulate and highly educated clergy. Celebrate with the world famous congregational choirs of the Convent Avenue Baptist Church, United House of Prayer, Abyssinian Baptist Church and the Roman Catholic Church of the Resurrection, whose renowned singers will have you jumping in your seat. After you have wetted your spiritual appetite, you may add to your experience with a satisfying “gospel brunch” at one of the area’s finest, yet inexpensive, eateries where local cooks prepare delectable culinary ethnic delights just for you. Afterwards, we’ll take you on a walking tour through Mount Morris Park Historical District area where many historical churches are, where founding fathers made their homes, and where immortal musicians and entertainers started their careers and introduced classic tunes and songs that are part of the American popular culture. It will be a day well spent and an experience you will not soon forget! Location: Tours departs from 2360 8th Avenue (Frederick Douglass Blvd.) Between 126th & 127th Street. A, B, C, or D, to 125th Street, exit near intersection of W 125th St and St Nicholas Ave., walk east one block on 125th street to 8th Avenue (Frederick Douglass Blvd.), turn left and walk to 126th & 127th Streets. You will see the sign for Welcome to Harlem. 2 or 3 trains to 125th Street, exit on the left side of the station and walk west two blocks to 8th Avenue (Frederick Douglass Blvd.), turn right and walk to 126th & 127th Streets.
